City Winery, the restaurant/wine bar/music venue that opened over the summer adjacent to Ponce City Market, is launching what is being called a “speakeasy-style cocktail bar.” It’s tough to replicate the hush-hush aspect of a speakeasy when you’re advertising it, but City Winery is having some fun with the concept.
Each week, a new name will be revealed on the venue’s social media accounts. Head to City Winery, find someone guarding an unmarked door, mention the name, and you’ll receive access to a “cozy, clandestine back bar.” Available beverages include “intriguing cocktails,” small-batch spirits, selections from a lengthy wine list, and beer. A record player provides the music, and those who purchase bottles of wine gain the privilege of choosing a record to spin.
The speakeasy is now open and pouring drinks seven days a week from 6 p.m. to midnight.
