Midtown: Eater Atlanta has heard from two anonymous sources that Chef Jose Rego has already left El Escorpion. Rego replaced the opening chef in July after some less than positive initial reviews. According to our source and someone in Ullio's camp, chef Adam Waller from Sotto Sotto, one of Riccardo Ullio's other restaurants, has taken over. We have reached out to Ullio's PR people, Rego, and both restaurants, but none of them have confirmed or denied at this point. More on this as the information becomes available.
Westside: According to Creative Loafing, chef Patrick Bell is leaving West Egg after a long stint there. Brian Frohne, who recently started working at Chateau Elan, will take his place.
Midtown: Creative Loafing also reports that George Brooks, a sous chef at Rathbun’s, will be working the line with chef chef Shane Devereux at the soon-to-open restaurant, The Lawrence. The Lawrence is the newest project from the Patrick La Bouff, who is behind The Supper Club. The restaurant, according to Besha Rodell, "shares some ownership" with Top Flr and Sound Table.
Westside: Chef Joshua Hopkins has left Abattoir where he was the executive chef and partner. While there has been much speculation on who will replace him, the restaurant has not named anyone as of yet, but stated a replacement will be from within their existing staff.
