Dining editor and restaurant critic, Bill Addison of Atlanta Magazine is reporting that Ticha and Dan Krisksy have decided to close Tierra on February 17, 2012, the day after its thirteenth anniversary. Ticha says they're closing because of the economy, rent increases, and smaller things like equipment maintenance. A new opportunity for Dan to work at the Atlanta location of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts also contributed to the decision. Tierra has been on Atlanta Magazine's Top 50 list and was named Restaurant of the Year by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2008. According to Addison, fans of the restaurant's tres leches can track it down after February by keeping up with Twitter and Facebook.
