The "steakhouse for women," STK has now opened its Atlanta location in midtown's Loews Hotel building. Serving steaks in small, medium and large cuts, with Parmesan truffle fries, shrimp Rice Krispies, and crab salads, the food menu isn't the only thing geared towards the ladies—the restaurant places emphasis on the bar as well, and its cocktails with ingredients like strawberries, blackberries, and graham crackers. According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal, Jonathan Segal, CEO of the One Group (behind STK), says that women are the key to the dining market and "...women [like] steakhouses. 'You meet successful and aspiring people there, but they're always so dark, smoky and dingy. And they don't want a whole cow on their plates.'"
The concept must be working, because since the 2006 opening of STK in New York City's Meatpacking District, it has now turned into a franchise with the Atlanta location and another space in Midtown NYC. Also on tap for Atlanta from the group, Cucina Asellina, the first location for this concept serving "light Italian" fare, also at the Loews.
