Unbeknownst to many Atlanta diners, Allen Jones is the business mastermind behind a large share of our city's most successful restaurants. The Georgia native has mentored entrepreneurs and chefs at iconic spots like Restaurant Eugene, 4th & Swift, Muss & Turner's, Local Three, Miller Union, and Bocado. This coming Sunday, January 29, the pros from these restaurants and more will host a special public dinner to honor Jones for his impact on the dining landscape.
On exactly why they're all coming together for the event at 4th & Swift, "business dude" Ryan Turner (Muss & Turner's/Local Three) explains:
"Everyone is aware of how challenging the restaurant business can be and how many fail. Usually, the perception of our success is tied to the surface level experience of food, drink, service, location, good press or awards. The reality is that those are all important factors, but without a sound understanding and practice of business fundamentals, you will most likely fail or, at best, lose life balance, relationships, sanity and your life savings to stay afloat. If you interview the very different restaurateurs Allen Jones has consulted, you would find a common underlying theme of sound business acumen.""A Toast to Allen Jones" will feature a tasting of cuisine and cocktails from restaurants including 4th & Swift, Bocado, Local Three, Muss & Turner's, Miller Union, Restaurant Eugene, Holeman & Finch, Staplehouse, The Mercantile and Kimball Mill. The dinner is $100 per person inclusive of tax and gratuity, with all profits benefiting the Feed My Lambs foundation that Allen started to empower underserved children and communities. Tickets available here.
