Hot new restaurant Cardamom Hill opens today at 11:30 a.m. Spice Route Supper Club chef Asha Gomez presents the cuisine of Kerala, India, with a daily-changing menu inspired by her upbringing in the southwestern-most state. The region's dishes are less common to U.S. palates, but proved to be a smash success for Gomez's supper club, leading to this brick-and-mortar incarnation. Cardamom Hill serves lunch and dinner six days a week and is closed on Sundays. The family-style dishes include seasonal ingredients, vegetarian options, and recipes that reflect Kerala's European and Asian influences derived from its place on ancient spice routes (like roasted duck with potatoes, masala-rubbed kingfish in banana leaf, and beef curry). Once its liquor license is approved in February, the restaurant will also feature a full bar with cocktails developed by Brian Stanger (of Abattoir/Top Flr fame and more recently at Southern Art and Bourbon Bar), as well as a boutique wine list.
