Inman Park Runs Away With It; Lee County Angry At Birds; Bye Bye Bloomies

Inman Park— After stomping its way through the preliminaries and playoffs, Inman Park sauntered through the finish line and claimed the Curbed Cup, taking home both the coveted (fake) trophy and title as Best Neighborhood in Atlanta for 2011. Apparently, genius city planning from the early 20th century, gorgeous historic Victorian homes, a rabidly connected community and some of Atlanta's best parks, locally-owned restaurants, nightlife and boutique shopping is valued in the land of suburban sprawl.

Lee County— the quiet flatlands of south central Georgia are in the midst of a Hitchcockian nightmare thanks to a huge flock of buzzards that have overtaken them. The large, ugly birds are destroying roofs, defecating on cars and scaring the earnest townsfolk. Adding insult to injury in gun country: the birds are federally-protected and authorities and citizens alike risk prosecution for escorting the birds off their property with any kind of prejudice.

Dunwoody— Brand loyal Bloomingdale's shoppers and General Growth Properties got some bad news with word the famous department store would close its Perimeter Mall location. But wait! They've already found a replacement...Van Maur Department Store. Wait, who?
