Vino Venue Opens Tonight

Vino Venue. [Christopher Watkins]

Vino Venue, the serve-yourself wine bar and restaurant by the Atlanta Wine School, opens to the public tonight. Originally scheduled to open last month, Vino Venue features a menu of small plates including numerous vegetarian options, such as edamame hummus and "fun nuts"— a mix of pecans, almonds, filberts, cashews, peanuts, and Brazil nuts. If anyone figures out what's so fun about them, please do tell.

There's also pimento cheese with sesame crackers, duck foie gras pate, sweet peppers with goat cheese, and for dessert, a caramel apple square with vanilla bean ice cream. For those still on a bacon kick, the three little piggies dessert offers it candied, dipped in chocolate and sea salt, and with cinnamon and chipotle.

Patrons interested in the "educational" aspect of wine can get their fill here, and a private events space is available as well. Said owner Michael Bryan: "There are wine bars and there are wine schools, but I don't think anybody else has or will focus as much on both the wine and the culinary as we are."
