Charity Events at JCT Kitchen, Serenbe, and More

WESTSIDE— JCT Kitchen will participate in Lunch Break for Kids on October 18. Proceeds from lunchtime meals on that Thursday will go toward creating resources for nutrition education programs in schools and community centers. Read more on Facebook. [EaterWire]

SERENBE— Atlanta's top restaurants, caterers, and farms are banding together from the 12th annual Afternoon in the Country, hosted by the Atlanta chapter of Les Dames d' Escoffier International. More than 90 chefs from Atlanta eateries like No. 246, Muss & Turner's, and Bocado will provide small bites to be paired with wines, microbrews, and local, organic harvest. Tickets are $95 per adult and can be purchased here. Last year, the event benefitted Georgia Organics and the LDEI scholarship fund. [AJC]

TASTE OF ATLANTA— Friday night in Tech Square marks the beginning of this weekend's Taste of Atlanta festival. The Big Grill block party will feature about 20 chefs, including Kevin Rathbun, who will serve up grilled dishes to benefit Georgia Organics. Purchase tickets here. [TOA]

SERENBE— The 2013 Southern Chef Series lineup has been announced. Each of the two-day classes by chefs like Linton Hopkins, Hugh Acheson, and Kevin Gillespie is capped at ten people and includes an overnight stay at Serenbe for $650 a head.
