Mi Cocina restaurant and bar is coming to the 12th & Midtown building in November. This is the 21st Mi Cocina location around the country, but the first in Georgia, and it will be led by Chef Alfredo Ramirez (formerly of Horseradish Grill and Pure Taqueria). Eater checked in with Store Director Brandon Dukes who confirms there are plans to open more Mi Cocinas in Atlanta in the future. They plan on opening their other concept, Taco Diner, next fall in the 12th & Midtown development at 12th and Crescent. Ahead, what to expect at Mi Cocina:
The specs: 265 seats, with a 40-seat bar and two private dining rooms
The look: monochromatic color scheme with colorful artwork
The special decor feature: Mexican artist Luis Sottil will create a three-dimensional mural along a 35-foot curved wall of a variety of bird species and plants native to greater Atlanta. The second floor will feature paintings hanging on "cone shaped structures, suspended from the ceiling" depicting birds in flight.
What to order off-menu: Chile Relleno, Nachos Elegante, and Queso con Chorizo.
Bar specialties: The Mambo Taxi and the margaritas
