Jonathan St. Hilaire takes over the kitchen at the Lawrence tonight. This will be the chef's first savory cooking gig in over a decade— previously, he's worked pastry at Bakeshop, Canoe, and Woodfire Grill, to name a few. While St. Hilaire will also create desserts for the Lawrence, he'll be at the helm of the entire kitchen, and his new dinner items should appear on the menu as early as this Saturday. No word yet on what they are, but rumor has it that at least a few will be "more accessible" than prior dishes.
The chef will join mixologist Eric Simpkins at the Lawrence and replaces Shane Devereux, who recently left the restaurant, where he was executive chef/partner, to explore new options. Currently, he's doing month-long cooking stint at Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island. The Lawrence is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner as well as for Sunday brunch.
