Buckhead—Curbed struck a nerve with the call for someone to get in and build something on the site of the old Shoney's on Piedmont near Lindbergh. We [at Curbed] have come to grips with the unavailability of the Shoney's breakfast buffet intown, but let's get on with it...this is a valuable piece of dirt!
Perimeter—Did you know that AutoTrader.com, a piece of the Cox Communications empire, is headquartered right here in Atlanta? If so, did you know that they have some really cool office space?
Downtown—The first new rail project in Atlanta since MARTA was built broke ground this week, and honchos gathered to celebrate. The Atlanta Streetcar, which will run from Centennial Olympic Park to the Sweet Auburn district and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic site is being built with a pool of funds including a pile of federal dollars.
Atlanta—Atlanta found itself the holder of an odious new title as essentially the worst housing market in the country. That damn Case-Shiller index came out again and it continued its merciless parroting of "data" that continues to show Atlanta's home values "dropping." Booooo.
