We keep reading about a future where smartphones are the center of our universe (even more than they already are), a future where we don’t need a wallet to dine at a restaurant – just our trusty phone. Well Woblet, a new iPhone and Android app created by Emory alums Daniel Waltzer and Garrett Seiger, promises that future is here.
Woblet is “a loyalty, rewards and mobile payment application system” that allows users to pay their tab at select local restaurants using a QR code linked to their credit or debit card. Woblet also offers discounts at restaurants, and users have the option of using the full discount or donating a portion to charity. For each purchase, users earn loyalty points that can be redeemed for free beverages and the like. Participating restaurants include Saba, Alon’s, Bad Dog Taqueria, TAP, Genki and ONE Midtown Kitchen, among others.
