Four month-old pizzeria Fuoco di Napoli is running into some trouble, Tomorrow's News Today reports. Its chef Enrico Liberato, an alum of Antico Pizza Napoletana and other pizzerias, was booked for aggravated assault, marijuana possession, and an immigration offense last month and may or may not have been deported. Now Antico Pizza is suing the owners of Fuoco for intellectual property infringement. It's not clear at this time what their case is but it doesn't bode well for the new pizza post.
In other pizza news, TNT reports that another Neapolitan style pizzeria called Ammazza will open in the Old Fourth Ward in June. The owners Hugh and Jason Connerty once worked for the company that owns development rights to Antico Pizza Napoletana. So small world. The brothers promise they aren't building an "Antico copy."
