Watershed, the popular Decatur New American restaurant known for its fried chicken, closed last August while promising to eventually open in a new location. And finally, the better part of a year later, news leaks that they'll open this May on Peachtree Road.
Last night the owners of Watershed sent a teaser to their newsletter subscribers and the Atlanta Journal Constitution learns that their opening will be on May 24. They're currently hiring and the new restaurant will be called Watershed on Peachtree.
Says managing partner Ross Jones, "Decatur was awesome, but our new, bigger house has more of the features we were looking for, like outdoor and private dining and a large bar area." The space features a bar dining room and a quieter main dining room and will feature a completely different look than the original. Also new: the menu. The chef is the same and some classics will remain—get that fried chicken on Wednesdays—but the menu will change more frequently and will be "more inventive than traditional."
