Bad Dog Taqueria got its liquor license this month and launched a cocktail menu as a result. The Decatur restaurant is now serving beer, wine, and cocktails alongside its now-famous Mexican food. Specialty margaritas currently include hibiscus and passionfruit, and the bar is experimenting with more exotic flavors like Thai chili with cucumber, charred pineapple with jalapeno, and avocado with sugarcane.

Bad Dog made its name in the business by creating unique versions of traditional fare. The menu offers tacos and burritos with plantain-crusted tilapia, curried Indian-style potatoes and peas, and Korean barbecue pork belly among more traditional picks like ground beef and grilled flank steak. Their current weekly special is the Kardashian, which is made with Armenian lamb and topped with a citrus-and-mint-infused yogurt sauce.

Diners in the know order the Mac Daddy taco, a cheesy macaroni-and-chorizo dish of which Bad Dog only makes 75 (40 for lunch and 35 for dinner) each day. It features the twisted tortiglioni pasta, Tillamook cheddar, gruyere, jack cheese, and fresh chorizo topped with Holeman and Finch breadcrumbs, caramelized shallots, and fried sage crumbles in a house-made corn tortilla. Pair it with an ice cold brew and eat it out on Bad Dog's patio.
