With the massive success of Taste of Atlanta (to be held October 5 and October 6 this year), a number of Atlanta areas have created their own, hyper-local "taste of" events. These events allow local businesses to showcase their offerings to neighborhood folk and those in the neighborhood to sample tastes from restaurants near home. Next up in this trend: Marietta and Buckhead.
An annual event held in the Historic Marietta Square, Taste of Marietta is April 29 this year. More than 70 restaurants and caterers will sell tastes. This list includes Thaicoon & Sushi Bar, Sugar Cakes, The Thirsty Parrot, Marietta Pizza Co., Champion Cheesecakes and the Chicken and the Egg. Even the King of Pops will be there. In addition to food and drinks, there will be four stages of live music, a “Kids Alley” and a “Sports Center.” Admission is free but tastes cost anywhere from $0.50 to $4.
A Taste of Buckhead Business will be held April 30 at the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center. The event, which costs $10 to attend, begins at 5 p.m. in the Cousins/Terminus lounge with food from Bricktops. Flying Biscuit and Jack’s New York Deli, plus live entertainment and a cash bar. Then at 6 p.m. 18 Buckhead restaurants, including Shula’s 347, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse and Fig Kam Kitchen & Bar, will share their specialties, along with 35 other “vendors.”
