This morning, Zagat released the 2012/2013 Atlanta Restaurants survey, which incorporates the opinions of almost 3,000 local diners about 471 restaurants in the area. The site also expanded its content so that information about a total of 800 Atlanta area restaurants can be found online and accessed by the Zagat mobile apps.
The most popular restaurant in the city this year is Bacchanalia, followed by Bone's Restaurant, Antico Pizza, Canoe, and Atlanta Fish Market. Chops, Cheesecake Factory, 4th & Swift, Aria, and Rathbun's are in the top ten as well. Zagat also awarded Bacchanalia the number one spot in the top food category. Antico, Aria, Bone's, and Chops made this list too, along with Valenza, La Pietra Cucina, Star Provisions, Restaurant Eugene, and Sotto Sotto.
Morelli's wins best buy, while Nan's Thai Fine Dining has the best decor and Bone's has the best service. Noted newcomers to the scene include Local Three, Heirloom Market, Chicken & The Egg, No. 246, and Cibo e Beve. The top Southern restaurant in the city is Wisteria, and Taka and Floataway Cafe are first for Japanese and French cuisine.
According to the Zagat survey, the average person in Atlanta dines out 3.2 times a week and tips 19.4%, over the US means of 3.1 meals and 19.1%. The cost of the average meal is $30.15, and 83% of meals eaten out are for leisure, not business. 44% of Atlantans say that having a famous chef makes them more likely to dine at a restaurant and 43% have never eaten at a gourmet food truck but are willing to try.
