Chef Nick Melvin to Host BYOB Pop-Up Whole Pig Dinner at Slopes BBQ

Chef Nick Melvin, formerly of Rosebud and Empire State South, plans to open his new restaurant Garden District soon. Melvin is still looking for the perfect location but says that the restaurant will be "a neighborhood gathering place that is distinguished by the local community that surrounds it. The mission is to provide the neighborhood with an open and welcoming gathering place for good food, good drink, and good company that feels like it's always been there."

In the meantime, Melvin is hosting a pop-up "farm to smokehouse" dinner at Slopes BBQ in Sandy Springs. The BYOB dinner on June 15 at 9:15 p.m. costs $60 a person for three appetizers and a five-course meal. Slopes BBQ and Melvin will utilize a whole pig in dishes like poached pig head and peaches, pork rib pho, and piggie pecan sandies with bourbon bacon ice cream. Reservations can be made by calling Slopes BBQ's Glenn, who also has recommended beer pairings for each of the courses, at (404) 725-7100.
