Located in the ADAC West building in Peachtree Hills, KR SteakBar will be a “fun, loud, Rat Pack” type restaurant, Kevin Rathbun said. It will be more casual than Rathbuns and Kevin Rathbun Steak, with wooden tables (without tablecloths), marble high-tops in the bar area, and a cozy garden patio. Catering to a younger demographic than his other restaurants (think the TWO Urban Licks crowd) KR SteakBar will focus on small and shared plates with Italian influences.
There will be homemade pastas, small portions of roasted meats, and plenty of specialty cocktails. Entrees will run $14 to $25, putting it on par with Krog Bar (if you were to make a meal of the tapas there).
Rathbun is busy acquiring permits for the restaurant right now. After that, it will take about four months to build it out, during which he plans to spend time in New York City, visiting Italian restaurants and fine-tuning his techniques. He has yet to choose a chef de cuisine for KR SteakBar, but is considering two people who’ve worked for him in the past. (Both are currently based in New York.)
