Waffold Brings Gourmet Waffle Sandwiches to Morningside

New, 5 comments

Starting Tuesday, July 31, Waffold will take over the former Burger Tap space. The restaurant serves gourmet waffle sandwiches and will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The concept comes to Atlanta from Justin Lim, who brought the city Yoforia in 2007 and who believes that waffle sandwiches are the next big thing.

Lim believes in staying ahead of food trends and thinks that the sweet and savory waffle creations are the first in what will become an "up-and-coming trend poised to become as prolific as frozen yogurt." About Waffold, he says, "my passion lies in introducing new concepts and tastes to new markets. Atlanta's diverse and progressive food culture makes the city a natural location to roll out innovative ideas, and I believe that diners will welcome the Waffold concept with great enthusiasm."

The restaurant's Belgian waffles sandwich things like Cajun fried chicken with creamy coleslaw and maple sweet chili sauce or sauteed vegetables with crumbled feta and garlic mayo. There's also a Waffold burger with Tillamook cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise; Waffold nachos made with waffle fries, nacho cheese, bacon, sour cream, and chives; and a Waffold chicken salad. Dessert options include Belgian s'mores, ice cream sandwich sundaes, and a waffle with berries and lemon sweet cream. Breakfast and Sunday brunch offerings feature lox and cream cheese or bacon, egg, and cheese.

Waffold will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. (404) 685-3299.
