It's time for another round of menu changes at restaurants around the city. These end-of-summer newbies range from pasta to pancakes, and from Brookhaven to the Westside.
At California Pizza Kitchen, new salads, pastas and entrees abound (starting August 27). There's a quinoa and arugula salad, shrimp scampi zucchini fettuccine, and grilled chicken chimichurri. There's even a fire-roasted chile relleno stuffed with chicken, queso quesadilla cheese, corn and black bean salsa, mushrooms, spinach and eggplant, topped with creamy avocado salsa and cilantro. Fish-lovers may enjoy the cedar plank salmon served with corn succotash.
CineBistro at Town Brookhaven is now serving weekend brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Menu options include blueberry pancakes and a bistro Benedict made with lightly fried green tomatoes and topped with Canadian ham, poached eggs and a creamy Hollandaise sauce with Peruvian potatoes. There's also shrimp and grits: Logan Turnpike stone-ground grits and white cheddar cheese, topped with Florida Rock shrimp sautéed in a spiced-butter sauce, and served with a caramelized onion and bacon marmalade, roasted corn and charred green onions. For guests age 21 and up, there are mimosas, bellinis and bloody Marys.
The Albert in Inman Park has revamped its menu, adding barbecue, as well as some new burgers and sandwiches. New appetizers include spinach dip and queso, along with soft pretzels made in house. There's an herb-infused turkey burger topped with greens, feta spread, pickled onions and tomatoes; a buffalo shrimp hoagie and a Philly made with rib eye. There's a barbecue plate with smoked pork and two sides, and a veggie plate as well.
The Atlanta Motor Speedway will be debuting a special menu Labor Day weekend. The menu features five items made with Coca-Cola products, as well as Georgia peaches and Vidalia onions. These items, created by Levy Restaurants Executive Chef Frank Abbinanti, will only be available during the AdvoCare 500 NASCAR weekend.
