ATHENS – Rather than throw a luau, Terrapin Beer Co. is hosting a Brewau. On August 18 starting at 5:30, the brewery will serve tropically inspired cask beers, as well as its usual on-tap offerings. The Tropical Breeze Steel Band will play and leis will be handed out with abandon. [Atlanta Buzz]
WESTSIDE – If you want something closer to the city, Red Brick Brewing Co. is celebrating its 17th anniversary bourbon barrel aged brown ale (now there’s a reason to throw a party) August 18 at 6 p.m. Twenty dollars in advance or $25 at the door gets you live music, Doc Chey’s food, a Red Brick/Hammers & Ale beer glass and four beer tasting tickets. [Atlanta Buzz]
BROOKHAVEN – Chef Dan Tederous of Chops Lobster Bar will lead a class at The Cook’s Warehouse August 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class costs $55 per person and includes demonstrations and tastings of crab cakes, lobster mac ‘n cheese, horseradish-crusted grouper and pepper steak. [EaterWire]
