West & Mill Bistro Bar, a European-style restaurant aiming for a casual neighborhood feel and a lively bar in a "modern rustic atmosphere," according to the press release, is set to open September 15 in the old Swit Bakery & Cafe space. It will serve lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch.
In line with nearly every other restaurant to open this year, West & Mill will be decorated in earth tones, the bar made from reclaimed wood (from a warehouse in South Georgia) and feature a large communal table. There will also be a fireplace, leather couches, industrial metal accents, large windows and a wrap-around patio. The dining room itself is entered through vintage cream-colored French doors.
In the kitchen is Belgian native Chef Tom Leroy, who will be preparing classic European sandwiches and comfort dishes. Small plates include scallops with butternut squash mousse and Leffe beurre blanc, pierogies, and monsieur sliders. There will be French onion soup, steak frites and a Belgian dish called oostendse smeus (mashed buttermilk potatoes, scallions, poached egg, rock shrimp, Hoegaarden hollandaise and caviar). Expect honey nut crepes for brunch.
The bar will serve a mix of local beers and European stouts, lagers and ales; plus wine and cocktails like the hibuscus sparkler (prosecco, rhubarb syrup and wild hibiscus flower syrup. ) and the Atlantan honey (Buffalo Trace bourbon, Dumante pistachio liquer, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and honey).
