West & Mill European Bistro and Bar is now open on the Westside. Owner Diana Stawnczy, formerly owner of Swit, changed the concept from a bakery to a restaurant after just five months in business. "The bakery just wasn't working," she said. "There's not enough walk-by traffic and people aren't used to stopping in early morning for fresh bread, like they do in Montreal [where Stawnczy once owned a small catering company]."
Since "Swit" stood for the beginning of the day and the logo was a rising sun, a rebranding was in order. Stawnczy opted for something "more generic;" West & Mill stands for West Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road, where the space is located.

Stawnczy kept the popular sandwiches from the Swit menu, added small plates and entrees and removed a cold display case. The place where bread was once stored is now home to wine bottles; the kitchen has been closed off to provide better ambient lighting; and a cocktail menu with 10 drinks designed by National Distributing Co. Craft Specialist Andrea Miller is now available. The plus side of rebranding? West & Mill was able to open with its liquor license.
