Tonight, the latest addition to Atlanta's pizza scene opens its doors in Old Fourth Ward. Ammazza, home of the glitter pizza purveyors who were formerly involved in Antico, sits on Edgewood Avenue and will offer up pizza and more for dinner seven days a week. It'll keep serving until 2 a.m. on the weekends and midnight Sunday through Thursday, so patrons can swing by for late-night cannoli or pizza fritta ("the real street food of Naples") if they miss the dinner hour. The restaurant touts its food as a "proud homage to Pizza Napoletana tradition," because instead of only using ingredients imported from Italy like most Naples-style pizzerias do, produce and meat are sourced locally from farms in the community. Even the mozzarella is made in house.
