MIDTOWNMeehan's Public House Chef Jordan Wakefield will cook four Oktoberfest-inspired dinner dishes at the Atlanta Botanical Garden's Edible Garden Outdoor Kitchen October 12. The event goes from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and each item will be paired with Oktoberfest beer. The cost is $49 for Atlanta Botanical Garden members and $54 for non-members. [EaterWire]

WESTSIDE— Southern Food Tour is coming to Atlanta October 11. Thirty people willing to pay $200 each will walk through the city, stopping in the kitchens of local restaurants to visit with chefs and taste their creations. Participating chefs include Anne Quatrano of Bacchanalia, Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene, Ford Fry of JCT Kitchen and Adam Evans of The Optimist. The chefs will share what Southern food means to them and how it has impacted their career. Guests will sample whiskey cocktails at each stop. [EaterWire]

MORNINGSIDE— The Morningside Mile race is coming up. Held October 14 from noon to 2 p.m., the race raises money for the Virginia-Highland fire station (the city's oldest). All runners will receive a free SweetWater beer at the finish line. Doc Chey's is hosting a lo mein noodle-eating contest at 1:30 p.m. (an opportunity for early race finishers to carb-up). It costs $5 to participate and the winner gets a $100 restaurant gift card. [EaterWire]
