Welcome to Front & Center, a series highlighting front of the house professionals in Atlanta restaurants. Right now, Atlanta Business Chronicle hospitality reporter Amy Wenk writes about Kaitlyn Bryant, a server at the Highlander:
Kaitlyn is a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark and grungy place.
The Highlander, a 20-year-old, rough-around-the-edges (but awesome) bar in Midtown, is my go-to spot on deadline day — when 12 hours of writing has left me worn-out, starving and craving a Stella.
Pint-sized, blonde and bubbly, Kaitlyn's sweet demeanor has, so many times, brought me back to the land of the living. And she seems truly sincere.
Her motive? "You get what you give. If I can be positive at work, I can be positive anywhere."
Kaitlyn, 24, is an Atlanta native who now lives in East Atlanta. She's worked at The Highlander for about a year and, before that, other local favorites including Jack's Pizza & Wings, where she met her husband.
"He would wait for me until we closed. It was really sweet," she said.
Waitressing helps her finance a budding fitness venture. Look out for it. That girl is in shape!
