A Waffle House in downtown Atlanta has started charging all customers a 20% "property management surcharge" in addition to local sales tax to pay for nighttime security. The restaurant has hired an off-duty police officer to be on the premises from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily to cut down on fighting and crime. It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and one waitress told Fox Atlanta that the amount of general rowdiness has decreased since the surcharge was implemented last month— but that tips have as well.
