Kevin Gillespie, Steven Satterfield, Holeman & Finch Are James Beard Foundation Award Finalists

The James Beard Foundation nominees were announced this morning from a long list of semifinalists. Eleven Atlanta chefs and restaurants (plus one from Athens) made the semifinals, and from those, Steven Satterfield of Miller Union is up as a finalist for Best New Chef: Southeast and Holeman & Finch has been nominated for Outstanding Bar Program. Joining them is Kevin Gillespie for his first cookbook, Fire in My Belly, which has been nominated in the Cookbook: American Cooking category. Hugh Acheson won in both categories last year, tying with Linton Hopkins for Best Southeastern Chef. This year's awards will be announced on Friday, May 3, and Monday, May 6.
