Forthcoming restaurant Staplehouse's non-profit initiative, the Giving Kitchen, is now live. The organization intends use funds to "support the metro Atlanta restaurant community by lending a helping hand to industry members impacted by medical or other unanticipated hardship." It was inspired by the outpouring of love and support that Staplehouse's Ryan and Jen Hidinger experienced when they announced that Ryan had been diagnosed with Stage IV gall bladder cancer.
All proceeds from Staplehouse— after taxes and business expenses (eg payroll)— will go to the Giving Kitchen. The restaurant hopes to open by the end of the year on Edgewood Avenue and has created an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds "to turn [their] dream building into a purpose-driven restaurant serving the people of Atlanta and the mission of The Giving Kitchen Initiative." Staplehouse is hoping to raise over $650,00 dollars in the next 45 days to go toward the restaurant's construction.
