The highly anticipated King + Duke will open in Buckhead late next month. The restaurant by Ford Fry replaces Nava, and hot chef Joseph Schafer will helm its kitchen. King + Duke is still under construction, and its family and friends dinner is set for early May— but 14 guests can preview the menu even before that by attending The First Supper: King + Duke, a five-course dinner offering "exclusive first access" to the menu and space of the restaurant.
Fourteen seats will be sold to the dinner, which will take place in the restaurant's private dining room at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26 May 17. Executive chef Schafer is still finalizing the menu, and he'll be out in the dining room to talk through the process and inspiration of each of the night's dishes. Pastry chef Chrysta Poulos will speak to her desserts as well. While the menu remains to be seen, we do know that King + Duke has a 24-foot open hearth over which meats will be roasted and plans to offer early American tavern-style cooking, so the meal will feature "wood-roasted meat, fish, and fowl." Drink pairings will be provided with each dish. Tickets are on sale now for $150 plus tax and gratuity.
