The owners of Metrotainment Bakery, Einstein's, Joe's on Juniper, Sugar Shack, and Garrison's Broiler & Tap filed for voluntary bankruptcy reorganization this month. The restaurants are required to repay more than $2.1 million to Miller Capital Ventures LLC in defaulted loan payments, accrued interest, late charges, and attorney fees, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. They all intend to stay open during the reorganization. Says restaurateur and CEO Jeff Landau, who leads the companies, "There is not even a 1 percent chance of closing down one of those businesses. These are healthy businesses." Landau, along with his wife, Amy, also founded Hudson Grille, which now has five locations, and Cowtippers, though neither entity is involved in the Chapter 11 filing.
