There's been some secrecy surrounding the opening of the gelateria and pasticceria from Antico Pizza Napoletana and Gio's Chicken Amalfitana owner Giovanni Di Palma, but an Antico employee tells Eater it's set to open sometime this week behind Gio's Chicken. Previously nameless, the gelateria will be called Caffe Gio. The gelati it serves was originally slated to come from popular local ice cream shop Morelli's, but none of the teaser samples Di Palma's restaurants have been giving out have been made by the East Atlanta shop. Caffe Gio's also got two super complimentary and very thorough Yelp reviews, both posted yesterday, despite the fact that the gelateria is not yet serving.
Also coming soon is Di Palma's nearby limoncello bar, which is set to open after Labor Day with a menu of limoncello cocktails, bellinis, prosecco, and antipasti. It's still being built out. We'll have more information about both ventures as it comes; they, along with Gio's Chicken and Antico, make up what Di Palma is calling Piazza San Gennaro.
