Caffe Gio, the gelateria and cafe from Giovanni Di Palma, opens today off of Hemphill Avenue. The cafe will be serve lunch daily and is located behind Gio's Chicken Amalfitana and adjacent to Antico Pizza; both are also owned by Di Palma. The cafe will serve "traditional Neapolitan street food" like panini, Gio's chicken soup, salads, as well as coffee, espresso, ten gelato flavors, and other desserts. The gelati will not made, as planned, by popular local ice cream shop Morelli's, but instead will be imported from Italy; Di Palma also imports all of the ingredients for Antico's pizzas from the European country.
From the press release, "With the addition of Caffé Gio, Antico and Gio's Chicken will form a Westside Italian Quartiere. It will be a natural progression extending the Antico experience to all-day dining." This fall, Di Palma's limoncello bar will open across the way; together, all of the establishments will form Piazza San Gennaro. Head below to see more pictures of Caffe Gio.
Open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm.; 1099 Hemphill Avenue, Atlanta. Enter through the alley next to Antico.
