Hugh Acheson's Savannah restaurant will be called the Florence, officially. He'd tentatively called it Vittoria at first, then settled on the double entendre that the Florence provides: It's not only the name of a city in Italy but also the name of Savannah's famous waving girl statue.
The two-story, 7,000 square-foot restaurant is set to open in March 2014 in a mixed-use development at the corner of Victory Drive and Bull Street in Savannah, GA. It'll serve fare like pastas and pizza that "blend the beauty of the South with the rich flavors of Italy," and will also feature a bar, patio, and biergarten.
