Ford Fry's first foray OTP, The El Felix, is opening soon. It was originally scheduled to launch in Alpharetta's Avalon development this Thursday, but instead will open its doors Monday, November 3, according to Atlanta Magazine. Nevertheless, the menu is here for your perusal.
In addition to being Fry's first OTP restaurant, The El Felix is his first "Mex-Tex" concept. The local empire builder has focused on Italian, seafood, and game at his previous ventures, but this menu will offer dishes such as tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and tamales. Entrees include braised short rib with chipotle molasses, blackened North Carolina catfish with frothy Serrano and garlic butter, and pollo con mole — marinated crispy-skin chicken with mole-poblano refrito, avocado, and pico.
Perhaps the most exciting menu item: free warm chips (a la casa) with either red or green salsa. That's no given at upscale Mexican restaurants these days.
The El Felix joins Fry's list of restaurants across the city: JCT. Kitchen & Bar (Westside), King + Duke (Buckhead), No. 246 (Decatur), St. Cecilia (Buckhead), and The Optimist (Westside). His Krog Street Market Mex-Tex concept, Superica, is on the horizon, as is an unnamed sister restaurant to The Optimist in the Inman Quarter development.
The El Felix is located at 1130 Avalon Place. Check out the full menu below.
