1) Inman Park/Old Fourth Ward: Steven and Nick Carse, the men behind local popsicle purveyor King of Pops, are working on a new venture that will offer coffee and sweets. They're in the early planning stages and are hoping to open somewhere in Inman Park or Old Fourth Ward by April 2015. Steven Carse shared some details with Atlanta Magazine:
"We just felt like the time was right. We've certainly established ourselves as a street brand for the people, but there's sometimes confusion when people don't know where we're going to operate," Steven explains. "We're excited to try some new things. We've been doing pops for five years."
In typical King of Pops style, they won't be hiring any pastry chefs, but instead are turning to their own talents. Nick has been baking cookies since kindergarten, and former employee Neil Ringer "fancies himself a great pie maker," Steven says.
2) Downtown: A new pizza place, POP Eatery is opening near Woodruff Park at 56 Peachtree Street. Planning to open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the restaurant will serve "personalized order pizza" and won't accept call-in orders, reservations, or offer delivery. Muses Partners LLC submitted a building permit for the 3,000-square-foot space on Friday, according to What Now Atlanta.
