John Kessler and Jenny Turknett, two writers who spearhead the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's dining coverage, are leaving the paper. Kessler announced the news Monday in a post on his Atlanta Restaurant Scene blog. He's leaving in late spring 2015, and Turknett is moving on at the end of November.
From Kessler's post:
Our wonderful critic Jenny Turknett will leave at the end of this month to pursue new opportunities in writing and food. In the four years she has worked for us, Jenny has not only grown into the position of lead critic, but she has also managed to co-author the book "The Migraine Miracle: A Sugar-Free, Gluten-Free, Ancestral Diet to Reduce Inflammation and Relieve Your Headaches for Good" with her husband, Dr. Josh Turknett and raise two small children. We will miss her insightful reviews.
I, too, will be leaving the AJC — but not for some time. In late spring of 2015, I will move with my family to Chicago, where my wife will be starting an exciting new job. There will be plenty of time to grow sick of me if you haven't already. I can tell you that the AJC will stay committed to providing quality dining coverage in Atlanta.
