Joe Truex, Watershed on Peachtree's executive chef since its days in Decatur, is leaving the kitchen on December 14 to pursue an opportunity abroad. He'll serve as a chef/consultant for a "high-end pizza restaurant" opening in the Mall of Dubai.
Truex cooked at Watershed for nearly five years, moving with the restaurant to Brookwood Hills in 2012. Serving upscale, farm-to-table Southern cuisine, his Wednesday night fried chicken is a local favorite.
Watershed managing partner Ross Jones is in the process of vetting candidates to take over the executive chef position, PR for the restaurant confirmed. When Truex was hired in 2010, he replaced original chef Scott Peacock, who claimed the 2007 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast.
For fans and admirers who might want to bid farewell to Truex, Watershed hosts its Christmas "After Party" this Saturday beginning at 9 p.m.
