Farm Burger is expanding. To California. The local burger joint will open a location later this year in the East Bay city of Berkeley, home to the University of California and renowned dining institution Chez Panisse. A storefront space for the future Farm Burger has been secured in West Berkeley's Gilman Village area with an expected opening late this summer or early this fall.
Farm Burger has three locations in the Atlanta area and a fourth in Asheville, North Carolina. The outpost in Berkeley marks the restaurant's first venture outside of the Southeast. For owners George Frangos and Jason Mann the location in Berkeley fits perfectly with Farm Burger's committment to being "sustainable, local, and humane" and also gives them a chance to bring some "Southern twang" westward. The menu in California won't differ greatly from the offerings in Atlanta, but expect partnerships with local farmers and vendors. Check back for more details as the west coast opening nears.
