Inside The Florence, Hugh Acheson's Savannah Restaurant

The Florence, Hugh Acheson's highly anticipated Savannah restaurant, is open for business. Turning out Italian cuisine made with Southern ingredients, Acheson's latest endeavor resides in a two-story building that was once an ice factory. It features a bar and coffee shop, as well. "The idea is relatively simple at its core, it's just to show the similarity and ethos between Southern food and Italian food," Acheson told Eater at the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen.

In addition to his new spot, Acheson has three Athens restaurants — Five & Ten, The National, and Cinco y Diez — and the widely acclaimed Empire State South in Midtown Atlanta.
