Dine Out for Kids; Flames for Firemen; Advanced Canning

CHARITY WIRE — Restaurants are across the state will donate a portion of profits from breakfast, lunch, or dinner to Communities in Schools tomorrow, August 21, for the organization's Dine Out for Kids event. WESTSIDE — Chef Meridith Ford, pastry chef and food writer, will be at Preserving Place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 24 to demonstrate advanced-pressure canning and preserving beyond jams and pickles. Guests will learn how to create vegetable soup and can it for winter along with more advanced vegetable canning. Cost is $95 per person, and registration must be completed 48 hours in advance.
