1) Avondale Estates: Icing Cake Design and Sweets Boutique opened in Avondale Estates this past Saturday. The small shop offers specialty baked goods like cakes, whoopie pies, and cupcakes. Watch the hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
2) Kirkwood: Dolphin's Water Ice Factory is now open in Kirkwood. Bringing a taste of Philly to the South, the shop in Kirkwood Station offers 20 flavors of Philadelphia-style Italian ice, 24 flavors of soft-serve ice cream, pretzels, banana splits, milkshakes, and sundaes. Dolphin's is open seven days a week, from noon to 9 p.m.
