Ford Fry's The El Felix Aiming for October 30 Opening

The forthcoming restaurant is Fry's first venture OTP.

The El Felix, local empire builder Ford Fry's Tex-Mex concept in the Avalon mixed-use development, is tentatively targeting October 30 for its opening date. The hiring process to fill out the restaurant's staff has begun.

Fry has said the "spirited Mexican-inspired restaurant ... hopes to capture the feel of Austin, Texas, while presenting completely authentic Tex-Mex cuisine." The name comes from his childhood favorite "old-school" Tex-Mex restaurant.

As for Superica, Fry's similar Krog Street Market "Mex-Tex" concept, and the currently unnamed sister restaurant to The Optimist, slated for the Inman Quarter development, there are no confirmed timelines for opening.

Avalon, located in Alpharetta, officially opens to the public on October 30, and will host a preview tasting night on October 29. In addition to the upcoming projects, Fry already runs JCT. Kitchen & Bar and The Optimist in Westside, King + Duke and St. Cecilia in Buckhead, and No. 246 in Decatur.
