Asha Gomez, chef/owner of Spice to Table, the sorely missed Cardamom Hill, and the forthcoming Spice Road Chicken in Krog Street Market, is working on her first cookbook. Entitled "My Two Souths," Gomez says the book will focus on her influences from growing up in southern India and currently residing in the southern United States.

"The book is my story of the two Souths I've called home, the Indian South and the American South. It's about my evolution as a person a home cook and a chef," Gomez said in an email to Eater Atlanta. "To the extent that food is an expression of personality, what you'll experience is this cookbook is the culmination of all my culinary journeys that finds itself on a plate."

Gomez closed Cardamom Hill, her upscale Kerala, India-inspired restaurant, in July to make way for Spice to Table and Spice Road Chicken. Both projects combine her Indian flavors with some Southern flare.

The book will be published by Running Press, a member of The Perseus Books Group, and Gomez's team includes editor Jennifer Kasius and writer Martha Foose. Look for "My Two Souths" to hit the shelves in spring 2016.
