Promising "an education in the art of food and beer," Los Angeles-based Public School is planning an Atlanta location in The Brady mixed-use development in Westside. The local outpost will be called Public School 404, which sticks to the franchise's theme of "Public School [local area code]." The restaurant's design "evokes nostalgic memories of an urban classroom through the use natural materials juxtaposed with refined chrome furniture and light fixtures," according to a press release.
Public School's menu will feature modern American fare such as bacon-cheddar tots with Sriracha ketchup; chorizo mac and cheese; a Colorado lamb burger with tomato-cranberry jam, arugula, and brie; and fried Jidori chicken and green chili-cornbread waffles. The bar will pour craft beer, wine, and cocktails. And to drive home the point that the establishment is inspired by a schoolhouse, happy hour will be known as recess.
Public School 404, which follows the original in L.A. and five more in Texas, Nevada, and California, will take up a 4863-square-feet space, with an additional patio, at 930 Howell Mill Road. It's projected to open sometime next year, but no firm timeline has been set. A Denver location is in the works, as well.
