The mysterious Krog Street Market concept from Atlanta cocktail veterans Greg Best, Paul Calvert, and Regan Smith is beginning to come into focus. The bar and restaurant, which will set up shop next to The Luminary, is called "Finchs Nest" or "Ticonderoga Club," and it should be opening soon. Best filed for a liquor license earlier this month, referencing both names.
The venture's website, which previously featured only a shimmying grim reaper declaring "you will pay," is now a little more filled out. Considering the Ticonderoga name and imagery, the forthcoming watering hole seems to take some inspiration from New York's Fort Ticonderoga, which was a key player in the French and Indian War and American Revolutionary War, and perhaps the legend of Duncan Campbell.
Chef David Bies and designer Bart Sasso are also involved in the project. There's still no information about a menu or concept, but merch is available, and patrons can apparently expect "all bells, no whistles." The official Krog Street Market website describes it as a "full service location with a comfortable vibe." The bar has hosted a couple of previews, so an opening date shouldn't be far away.
Update: September 20, 10 a.m. The partners confirmed the Ticonderoga Club name and more details in a feature at The Bitter Southerner.
