The fifth Grindhouse Killer Burgers outpost opened Tuesday morning inside Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Owner Alex Brounstein's new T Gate location is the second inside Hartsfield-Jackson, following the original at D Gate. The restaurant offers counter service and a full bar with an abbreviated Grindhouse menu that includes breakfast — egg sandwiches, omelette plates, hash browns, and the like — plus a projection screen, similar to its Piedmont Avenue location. Daily hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to the new airport outpost, Grindhouse is working on a standalone restaurant in Decatur. Originally scheduled for a summer 2015 launch, it's now on track to begin service in January 2016. The sixth Grindhouse, taking up residence at 433 North McDonough Street, will feature a rooftop bar, games such as cornhole and darts, and a larger number of TVs.
In addition to the two airport restaurants and Piedmont Avenue outpost, Brounstein operates the original Grindhouse stand inside Sweet Auburn Curb Market and another restaurant in Athens. He's also a partner at Midtown's Hi-Five Diner.
