Steak Shapiro Cooks at Davio's; Global Growers Dinner at Makan

BUCKHEAD — Wednesday night at 6 p.m., Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse will host Davio's Cooks for Charity, benefitting The Giving Kitchen. Atlanta Eats host Steak Shapiro will be in the house cooking American Kobe meatballs, and 100 percent of proceeds from the dish will be donated to the charity. For reservations, call (404) 844-4810. DECATUR — Global Growers will host its fourth annual cocktail party, A Toast of the Culture in Agriculture, at Makan on Tuesday, November 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Makan chef George Yu will create a traditional Asian pig roast for the event, and he'll be joined by Thomas McKeown from Grand Hyatt Buckhead, Savannah Haseler from Twain's Brewpub & Billiards, Jessica Hanners from Souper Jenny, Germaine Appel from the SoulShine School, plus and Growers farmers. Tickets are donation based (suggested $45), available online, and include food tastings, cocktails, a photo exhibit, and a "special surprise." Proceeds will support Global Growers' work to connect new American families to opportunities in sustainable agriculture by facilitating access to land, education, and markets in the Atlanta area.  Global Growers primarily works with experienced farmers who have come to the United States as refugees. BUCKHEAD — Vine & Tap will offer pre-order and to-go Thanksgiving dishes for Turkey Day 2015. Chef Brandon Peterson will create traditional Thanksgiving favorites based on his childhood growing up on St. Simon's Island. For $25 per person, diners can enjoy an organic turkey breast brined and slow roasted with herbs, plus cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, and yeast rolls. A la carte sides include green bean casserole, sweet potato puree, macaroni and cheese, dressing, and apple sauce for $3 each. Pumpkin pie is available for dessert. Orders are due by Friday, November 20, and can be picked up at the restaurant on Tuesday, November 23, and Wednesday, November 24.
